OPEN ROLE

Senior Geospatial Analyst

Full-time · Fully remote (U.S.) with travel as required · $110,000–$140,000

MK Spatial LLC is a veteran-led geospatial engineering firm supporting homeland security and national defense missions. Our featured work is with the U.S. Coast Guard, where we help build and sustain the enterprise geospatial systems behind maritime domain awareness: the sensor feeds and platforms that command centers depend on. We are an SBA-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and an Esri partner. We are a small team, and the people we name on an engagement are the people who do the work.

The job

You will own the geospatial products a federal mission customer depends on, from the data feeds behind them to the dashboards on the watch floor. You will be the named technical lead the customer sees, with a junior analyst working alongside you. The role is hands-on: you administer, build, tune and document, and you make judgment calls about what is safe to change in a production environment. You will also help shape how the firm works as it grows.

What you will do

  • Design, build and sustain ArcGIS Enterprise content: enterprise geodatabases, feature and map services, hosted layers, web maps, Dashboards and Experience Builder apps.
  • Stand up and maintain data pipelines from operational sources (vessel tracking, environmental, charting, sensor feeds) into Portal, with monitoring that catches schema and quality drift.
  • Tune service and Portal performance; diagnose slow maps and failing services and fix the underlying cause.
  • Serve as the day-to-day technical point of contact for the government customer: requirements, priorities, status, risk.
  • Write the runbooks, architecture notes and transition documentation that let the customer and your teammates operate without you.
  • Mentor and review the work of the junior analyst; set standards for data quality, naming and documentation.
  • Contribute to proposals and technical volumes when the firm bids new work.
  • Travel as required to the customer’s facilities for on-site work.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Six or more years of hands-on GIS work, with at least three on ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online in a production setting.
  • Demonstrated depth in at least two of: enterprise geodatabase design and versioning; Portal and ArcGIS Server administration; real-time or scheduled data integration; Experience Builder and Dashboards development; Python automation (ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python).
  • Experience working directly with a government or enterprise customer, including explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical decision makers.
  • Clear, concise writing; you will author documents the customer keeps.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. You must be able to pass the federal background investigation required to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC), sponsored through the government customer.

Nice to have

  • Coast Guard, Navy, DHS or maritime operations background, including prior military service; familiarity with command-center and watchstander workflows.
  • Experience with AIS and vessel-tracking data, S-57/S-101 electronic navigational charts, or real-time GIS (ArcGIS Velocity, GeoEvent Server migration).
  • Security and ATO experience in a federal environment (NIST SP 800-53 or 800-171 controls, STIG-aligned configuration).
  • Esri technical certifications; cloud platform experience (AWS GovCloud or Azure Government).
  • Experience with imagery analysis or geospatial AI/ML workflows.

Pay and benefits

  • $110,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Health insurance: medical, dental and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous paid time off plus paid sick leave, and federal holidays
  • Fully remote work with company-provided equipment; travel reimbursed at federal per diem rates
  • Real ownership: you are named in the proposal, named to the customer, and trusted to run the work
  • Input on tools and delivery standards as the firm grows
  • Training budget and conference time
  • Veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses are encouraged to apply
