OPEN ROLE

Geospatial Analyst (Junior)

Full-time · Fully remote (U.S.) with travel as required · $62,000–$80,000

MK Spatial LLC is a veteran-led geospatial engineering firm supporting homeland security and national defense missions. Our featured work is with the U.S. Coast Guard, where we help build and sustain the enterprise geospatial systems behind maritime domain awareness: the sensor feeds and platforms that command centers depend on. We are an SBA-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and an Esri partner. We are a small team, and the people we name on an engagement are the people who do the work.

The job

You will keep operational map products accurate and current for federal mission users, working inside an ArcGIS Enterprise environment alongside a senior analyst. Most days involve loading and checking data, maintaining feature layers and dashboards, answering user questions, and writing down what you did so the next person can repeat it. The work is detail-heavy and visible: when a layer is wrong, someone on a watch floor notices.

What you will do

  • Load, validate and publish geospatial data to ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online: feature layers, map services, hosted views.
  • Maintain web maps, Dashboards and Experience Builder apps; make the small fixes users ask for the same week they ask.
  • Run data-quality checks on recurring feeds (schema, geometry, attribute ranges, coordinate systems) and flag drift before it reaches a dashboard.
  • Write and maintain runbooks, data dictionaries and change notes.
  • Support Tier 1 and Tier 2 user questions: sharing, permissions, symbology, “why does this layer look wrong.”
  • Script repetitive steps in Python (ArcPy or the ArcGIS API for Python) under the senior analyst’s direction.
  • Join weekly syncs with the government customer; travel occasionally for on-site work.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, geomatics, environmental science or a related field, or equivalent experience (a strong portfolio or a GIS certificate plus hands-on work counts).
  • One to three years with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online or Enterprise; an internship or a capstone that shipped a real product counts.
  • Working knowledge of coordinate systems, geodatabases, attribute schemas and data joins.
  • Some Python, or a demonstrated willingness to learn it on the job.
  • Clear written English; you will write documentation other people rely on.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. You must be able to pass the federal background investigation required to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC), sponsored through the government customer.

Nice to have

  • Maritime, Coast Guard, Navy or port-operations exposure, including prior service.
  • Familiarity with AIS, electronic navigational charts (S-57/S-101) or weather and ocean data feeds.
  • Survey123, Field Maps or Dashboards configuration experience.
  • Esri technical certification (any level).

Pay and benefits

  • $62,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Health insurance: medical, dental and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous paid time off plus paid sick leave, and federal holidays
  • Fully remote work with company-provided equipment; travel reimbursed at federal per diem rates
  • Direct mentorship from a senior geospatial engineer; no layers between you and the people who decide
  • Training budget and paid time toward Esri certification
  • Veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses are encouraged to apply
